2017 Semester One Reports and Parent / Teacher / Student Interviews

Wednesday June 28 8.30am – 10.00am and Thursday June 29 4.00pm–8.30pm

Parent-Student-Teacher interviews to discuss student progress and Semester One Reports will be held on Wednesday June 28 from 8.30am – 10.00am & Thursday June 29 from 4.00pm–8.30pm. There will be no classes at the College on Friday June 30.

These interviews aim to provide parents with the opportunity to meet subject teachers in order to discuss semester one academic progress and learning strategies to achieve optimal academic achievement for the remainder of the year.

Semester One Reports will be available for parents to view on the Parent Access Module (PAM) from 4.00pm on Monday June 26. These reports provide an overview of achievement and lists specific study strategies that students should implement in Semester Two. The Parent/Student/Teacher interview will allow for a detailed conversation with teachers and increase your understanding of how you can best support your child as they progress through their senior secondary education program. All students are required to attend the interview with their parent or guardian as the interview is about their study habits and the goals that they wish to achieve in 2017.

Catholic Regional College Sydenham has an electronic booking system for teacher appointments. The system can be accessed via the Parent Access Module (PAM) link on the College website (www.crcsydenham.net) and requires a username and password. Once you have accessed PAM you will be able to make the appropriate appointment times with your son/daughter’s teachers. An instruction sheet that will assist you in using the system to make appointments is available within PAM. This document is entitled “Parent Teacher Interview Instructions”. (In order to access the system, one of the following web browsers must be used: Chrome, Safari, or Internet Explorer 10 / 11).

We strongly recommend that parents log in to PAM on a regular basis to view student results and feedback on learning tasks. This feedback is provided regularly by all subject teachers.

The online appointments system will be activated from 4.00pm on Friday June 23.

Semester 1 Reports will be available to view online via PAM from 4.00pm on Monday June 26.

Twilight Open Evening and Careers Expo at Catholic Regional College Sydenham on Wednesday 2 August 2017

The Twilight Open Evening provides students and their parents with vital information about course selection and pathway planning. It is essential that all students in Year 11 or 12 at the College in 2018 and at least one parent attend the evening as vital course selection information will be provided.

The following information provides an overview of the day’s events:

Wednesday 2 August 1.00pm – 3.25pm: Student Information Sessions and Careers Expo

Year 10 students from Catholic Regional College Caroline Springs, St Albans and North Keilor will be transported to Catholic Regional College Sydenham for the afternoon.

Students will be placed into groups and will be presented with information regarding the full variety of programs on offer at Catholic Regional College Sydenham. These presentations will provide students with information about the subjects available for study and the career options that these subjects can lead to. Students will also have the opportunity to tour some of the specialist facilities at the College including the Trade Training Centre and to attend the Careers Expo to gain pathway information.

This afternoon is designed specifically for students and will provide them with a general overview of the options available to them at Catholic Regional College Sydenham.

Wednesday August 2 5.00pm – 8.30 pm: Twilight Open Evening

The Twilight Open Evening has three elements.

1. Learning Area Displays in the College Hall: Families are invited to visit the College from 5.00pm to review each of the subject areas, meet with teaching staff to receive valuable advice about subject requirements and course selection. We recommend that families should allow at least one full hour in order to visit subject displays. Current students will also be on hand to provide insights into subject and course selection
2. Careers Expo:  This expo will occur in the College Hall  between 5.00 and 8.30 pm and will provide an opportunity for students and parents to research and receive quality information from our exhibitors regarding employment, apprenticeships, traineeships , TAFE institutes, Universities and both Government and Private Providers. This will enable families to develop an understanding of the post school pathway options available to students and how their choice of programs will influence their future options.  Some of our exhibitors will include: The University of Melbourne, RMIT, Victoria University, NMIT, VACC, AFL Sports Ready, Pivot Point, Australian Catholic University, and Apprenticeships Group Australia.
3. Formal Parent Information Sessions will be held in The Crate Theatre between 5.30pm and 8.00pm on the evening.
