Year 1 - Inquiry

We are the same but different

This term in Year 1 we have been focusing on our Inquiry topic “We are the same but different.” We have been looking at the ways we are the same and ways we are different. We have been discussing the similarities and differences within our community, we’ve looked at ourselves, our families, our communities and our cultures.

We made some community circles where we could draw our family, our town, our school and our country. We have talked about how some of us can speak other languages and celebrate different holidays.

This linked to Cultural Diversity Week which we celebrated in week 8. To prepare for Cultural Diversity Week we looked at songs and dances from other countries.

The year ones also presented an Irish dance at assembly. We worked very hard because the steps were very quick.
