Prayer for Lachlan

At our Tuesday morning Mass this week we remembered the one year anniversary of the passing of Lachlan Ridley from Year 12 2017. Lachlan’s mother and his family and friends joined us for Mass celebrated by Fr Jim McKeon, and many of Lachlan’s friends from the 2017 class were in attendance also. 2017 College Captain Joseph Unwin read the Prayers of the Faithful below:

  • We pray for our school communities; may the Holy Spirit guide the staff and students so that they may be beacons of your love and mercy to each other and to the wider society.
  • We thank you God for of the life our friend and brother, Lachlan Ridley, and his beautiful character which enriched the St Pius Community and especially the Class of 2017. Lach’s generosity of spirit and unselfish love for others strengthened this community and all of our lives. We give thanks simply for the gift in all our lives that is;  Lachlan Ridley, alive in our hearts.
  • We pray especially for the Ridley family at this time; Michael, Leica, Kaitlin, Melissa and Shane and all of Lachlan’s friends and extended family.  May they find comfort and strength knowing that Lachlan has found eternal peace.

Lord Hear Us

All:  Lord, hear our prayer.

Academic Awards Ceremony

Last Friday the Academic Awards Ceremony was held in the Chatswood Concourse and our 2018 HSC High Achievers were in attendance.

Our special guest speaker was 2018 College Dux, Joshua Rayner, who spoke inspiringly to the boys about his own study habits and his appreciation for the College and his teachers.

I congratulate all our award winners and we presented approximately 20% of the students in Years 8-12 for their achievements in the 2018 studies.

We were treated to a brilliant performance from Hunter Clarke of his Encore presentation.  He was accompanied by Mr Ian Talati, Mrs Stella Waddington and Mr Stephen Cummins.

The challenge for the boys now is to work hard in Semester 1 this year to be recognised in Term 3 at our “Celebration of Learning” Awards which are based on their Semester 1 results.

I attach below a copy of my speech to the students, staff and the many parents in attendance.  A list of award recipients, along with the speech made by Joshua Rayner, can also be found below.
