The 2019 Basketball Awards Presentation will be held on Tuesday 19 March in the school gym at Chatswood. This is a compulsory event for all players. If players cannot attend the presentation a note must be sent to Mr Casey explaining the absence. The ceremony will start at 6:30pm.
Dear parents and students - please do not abuse the referees at the Semi Finals this weekend. Even if the referee’s decisions are less that satisfactory, it is embarrassing for the College and for me as the Convenor of Basketball. Positive reinforcement and encouragement of our players is the best response we can give when controversial calls are made. Players need to focus on the game and not the referees if they want to win close matches. The ISA has a clear Code of Conduct for spectators and unruly behaviour will not be tolerated.
Game of the day: The 15Cs hung in a close match to finish one point up over Chevalier’s 15Bs.
Play of the day: Lachy Onslow 15As slots the winning points with a big play under the hoop.
Semi Finals: There are TWO VENUES for finals this Saturday. Please note times and venues below. All teams must provide one parent to do the score bench at the semi-finals. Please offer to help on the bench.

ISA Div 1 Rd 10 – 1st XI v St Stanislaus College Bathurst at Bathurst, Saturday 23 February 2019
The ISA competition round saw the 1st XI travel to Bathurst. One of the few times in the season, the 1st XI fielded first and began strongly with Liam Chang and Josh Hooper taking two early wickets. The opposition captain played very aggressively to record a fine century, however the 1st XI fought back well to take 9 wickets. Hayden Robertson and Liam Chang bowled at the stumps to take three wickets each, Alec Favelle took two wickets and Tim McLachlan took three catches including a fine snare to dismiss the centurion.
Chasing a formidable 271, Tom Colgan attacked from the opening over in scoring a quick-fire 25. Joe Colgan, played a very mature innings of 82 which was his first 1st XI half century. While others made starts on the quick outfield and small boundaries. The run rate proved too high at the end with the 1st XI finishing with a creditable total of 205.
Next week: Semi-final 1st XI v St Patricks Strathfield at Strathfield.

Ms Amanda O'Brien - Convenor
It was great to see the sun shining for the start of our 8.00am session. With six Pius vs Pius games the atmosphere was amazing! There were some amazing rallies on Court 3 from Teams 30 and 26 with the boys moving well on the court to try and keep the ball in play. It is great to see the green ball divisions improving each week and the competition amongst them is electrifying. Thanks to the many parents who came to support and cheer on their sons. We won 7 of the games from 8 courts in session one!
Unfortunately the weather was not as kind to us in the second session. All teams got at least one game in but sadly the others were all washed out.
Thank you to the senior boys - Nicholas Arena, Daniel Scipioni, Nicholas Tozer, Andrew Horton, Xavier O’Carroll, Anton Langreiter and Thomas Fong - who helped with umpiring and mentoring. Their presence added a professional atmosphere to the morning session.
A reminder that the following boys are scheduled to mentor/umpire this weekend: David Jelovic, Jamie Todd, Jarred Lam, Ben Casey, Richard Gauci, Tom Ryan and Michael Chan. Please ensure that you arrive at 7:45am ready for the early games.
