The first few weeks of the year are an important time to set our direction for many of the mission programs we coordinate. Mr David Blake has been busy organising the dates for our visits to the Matthew Talbot Hostel and Willowood Nursing Home. Ms Katie Meale has assisted in organising the integration of Social Justice Activities within the Year 7 Religion Program, as students begin their connections with various Edmund Rice schools across the world. Mr Adrian Brannan has begun his preparation for the Caritas fundraising and also Project Compassion which begins on Ash Wednesday and continues for the season of Lent.

I have begun our organisation for our College Commencement Mass which will be held at 10am on Tuesday 14th February at Our Lady of Dolours Church in Chatswood. It is most fitting that our first liturgical celebration is held at our Parish church. Father Paul Finucane is a great support and friend of the College and is an integral part of our community. There is a strong partnership between the Parish and the College with students accessing various programs and events at the Parish.

Mr Adrian Brannan, Youth Minister at the Parish, is presently promoting a Year 7 event called Acclaim on Sunday 12th February at 12 noon. This will be a fun afternoon for students and a great way for them to establish community with other Year 7 students who are also embarking on their secondary school journey. There will be full supervision, lunch is provided and the afternoon will conclude at 3.30pm. Please see further information and flyer below.

The  P&F Mass and Social will be held on Saturday 18th February. The evening begins at 5.30pm with Mass at Our Lady of Dolours Parish Church followed by a BBQ in the College grounds. This is a great way to start the year by meeting new families and students, meeting staff or catching up with old friends. All are welcome.

As we begin our Lent countdown may we approach the year with an open heart that allows us to truly ‘live’ this year of Gospel Spirituality.

Year 7 Picnic

Our local Chatswood Parish community would like to invite all Year 7 students to a fun afternoon in the park this Sunday.  Meeting on the Parish forecourt at 12 noon on Sunday 12th of February, we will then walk up to Beauchamp Park. Starting with a simple lunch of sandwiches and poppers we will then have a range of activities for the kids to enjoy. The activities will continue until about 3:30pm.

We are looking to gather this age group of children together so they may form a small community to support each other in faith and fellowship on their journey through secondary school.

The afternoon will be supervised by Adrian Brannan, Youth Minister at Chatswood Parish, and the activities will be conducted by the young adults of the parish. The event is open to all, as is our Youth Mass from 5:30 that evening in the church, for anyone who would like to join us.

Please see the attached flyer or call Adrian on 0414 826 326 for further information.
