Luke 17:11-19 Jesus Heals Ten Men With Leprosy
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus travelled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”
When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed.
One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.
Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”
Imagine how Jesus felt when only one of the ten people who were healed came back to thank him. What happened to the other nine? Perhaps they were just so excited they just forgot.
Two of the simplest words in the English language are “thank you”. So simple, but so easy to forget to say. Think about all the nice things people do for you each day. How often do you thank them? We often remind children, “What do you say?”
Let us make this year one of praise and thanks. Go out of your way to thank others and express our gratitude. We all know how important it is to feel thanked and appreciated.
This year, let us focus on thanking others as the first thing we do rather than an afterthought.
WASHOUT! Senior Swimming Carnival
Yesterday’s carnival was such a challenge and I offer appreciation to Mr Stearn, all the College staff and Macquarie University Pool staff in caring for our boys yesterday. Despite our determination and persistence , the thunder and lightning called a halt to the Carnival. Congratulations to the students on their great efforts and for the “no complaints” attitude they demonstrated. Well done especially to Year 12.
STOP PRESS: Rice wins the Junior Swimming Carnival today!
Parents & Friends' Association
All parents are members of the P&F and are warmly welcomed to join in as many events as possible. Please feel welcome also to offer assistance in joining any one of the College Clubs or Committees. More information can be found on the P&F website http://pandf.spx.nsw.edu.au/
College Commencement Mass/P&F Commencement Mass
Due to the large number of students and lack of space in the Church we will not have room for parents to join us for the Student Commencement Mass on 14th February.
However, all parents and their families are invited to the P&F Commencement Mass and Social on Saturday 18th February at 5.30pm in the OLD Church followed a BBQ in the College grounds.
Students must come directly to school
Some students are not coming directly to school and going directly home but rather congregating in the Mall, Westfield or the station or bus interchange.
The College will be active in ensuring students come directly to school and go home directly. Parents are asked for their support in checking on the arrival times as well.
Call for 3rd Generation Families
Last year we asked for parents to contact us if they have had three generations at St Pius X College and we now have good records of a number of these families.
If you are such a family and you don't believe we are aware of it please contact Mrs Julie Ingram jingram@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au so that we can make sure this is acknowledged later in the year.
