Students at work experience
As we draw closer to the middle of the year, Support unit has a lot to share with the parents and the community.
Our Year 7 students have settled in very well at school and have participated in many activities both at school and outside the walls of Cecil Hills High School which I hope have made daily learning fun and challenging.
Our community access group have made several trips to Liverpool and local shopping areas. Students are slowly gaining confidence in using opal cards on public transport and becoming independent shoppers.
Four of our students are participating in the Shining Stars performance and our talented students have once again been selected to perform at the annual Schools Spectacular extravaganza at the end of the year.
On weekends and after school, Mani Chung of Year 12 enjoys playing netball. Read the full story here.
I take this opportunity to thank Nimrod Jacob for inspiring and encouraging our students to try their personal best at these extracurricular activities. Special thanks to the management of Coles and Woolworths supermarkets at Liverpool and to the Thorndale Foundation at Werrington for providing venues for work experience this year. Work experience is a pathway for our students for future and they gain work skills before they graduate the Life Skills course from school.
Liverpool West Rotary Club have always been great supporters of students with special needs. This year Rotary Club donated money to purchase four iPads for student use. This has enabled our students to access our online reading and mathematics program. Rotary also provided our students with complimentary tickets to watch the annual circus show at Liverpool Catholic Club.
We have participated in the combined school Athletics Carnival at Campbelltown. All our students took part in events such as 100m, 200m race, short put, javelin and long jump.
We continue to be a PBL FOCUS (Positive Behaviour in Learning) Unit. All our staff members work hard to to address the needs of the students and to teach expected behaviours and skills - teaching students to be responsible, respectful and successful both at school and out in the community.
