Vinnies Winter Appeal

Thank you to all those students who donated blankets and warm clothing to the Vinnies Winter Appeal on Wednesday. All students attended a liturgy where prayers were offered to those affected by poverty this winter. Representatives from each PAC class offered the donations as part of the service. Thanks to our own Vinnies group for running this prayer service and all the organisation that preceded it.

Youth Mass

The last Youth Mass for Term II is this Sunday at the Cathedral at 5.30pm. It is a wonderful Mass with O'Connor students providing welcomers, readers, servers and musicians. Make Youth Mass your Mass!

ACYF

Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF)

At present O'Connor has 15 enthusiastic pilgrims looking forward to ACYF in Perth in December. O'Connor is attending as part of a larger diocesan group with students from Holy Trinity Inverell, St Mary's Gunnedah, St Philomena's Moree and McCarthy Catholic College Tamworth. The pilgrimage has been generously subsidised by the Armidale Catholic Schools Office. It is a wonderful opportunity for these pilgrims to travel and enjoy a great festival. The last ACYF was in Sydney attracting 20 thousand pilgrims. There are still a few spots available for this pilgrimage. If you are interested please see Mr Roff or Mrs Fittler.

Founders Day

Founders Day and Tercentenary Mass

On July 5, O'Connor celebrates its founders, the De la Salle Brothers and the Ursuline Sisters. Celebrations include an assembly, mass, concert and the traditional house sport; Capture the Flag. This year is also the Tercentenary of the death of St John Baptist De La Salle, the founder of the De La Salle Brothers. We will have many distinguished visitors including ex O'Connor principals Brother John Pill, Brother Gary Coyte and Sister Mary Talty. Bishop Kennedy will be celebrating the Tercentenary Mass. It is shaping up to be a memorable day!
