A massive year of recycling at Nossal High School

The quiet end of the year has given the NEST students and staff the opportunity to count and collate all our various recycling items as part of the recycling station set up earlier this year.

Our recycling efforts have seen us collect 14 old (and often very interesting!) mobile phones, over 200 coffee capsules, approximately 100 oral care and beauty products and 11kg of batteries! Many of these items are traditionally non-recyclable but we have saved them from landfill through programs such as Terracycle and the local council. Terracycle also allows us to make some money back for our school. Additionally, we have teamed up with Nespresso for 2018 to recycle their coffee capsules. They clean out the excess coffee for composting and turn the old aluminium capsules into new machines, it’s very cool!

We thank those who have contributed to our recycling efforts and encourage all families to get on board with our programs in 2018!
