OARS

In weeks two and three all students in Years 7-10 complete OARS online testing. Testing occurs in Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Maths, General Ability and Science. Teachers will use this data to plan for improved learning and to better cater for individual learning needs:
'ACER’s Progressive Achievement approach is used in thousands of schools in Australia and around the world. The approach focuses on assessing and monitoring student growth over time and is underpinned by an understanding that students of the same age and in the same year of school can be at very different points in their learning and development'.
These tests provide objective information to teachers about their students’ skills and understandings in a range of key areas. At the centre of each PAT test is a described proficiency scale, providing both quantitative and qualitative data on student performance, making the PAT tests ideal for understanding students’ current strengths and weaknesses, informing teaching and learning, and monitoring progress over time.
