Homework Club

Homework Club is available to all students from 3.30-4.30pm in each of our Library spaces, both East and West. Homework Club is supervised by staff who specialise in a variety of areas. Mr Innocent Munyantwali is an LSO at our East Campus and is highly qualified to assist our students with Maths homework. Our other Learning Support Officers each bring a variety of expertise and are very keen to assist students with study techniques and completion of homework. It is the expectation that Homework Club is a productive, working environment.

Students who wish to wait for a bus in the library space are required to sit quietly and read or research. While you are welcome to wait out of the cold, you should not be disturbing the study habits of other students.

For Year 12 students a separate collaborative space is set aside to discuss upcoming tasks or study in groups.

For those students who prefer a silent study area we have revamped the Seminar Room and will establish the Clock Room.

The Clock Room

Time management and examination practice are proven to be two effective methods of exam preparation for VCE students. The more practice questions students experience, the more formative feedback received, the better the final results.

In order to support our students, commencing this Thursday, 16 August, our Year 12 West students are invited to test their examination skills against the clock. All Year 12 are invited to attend from 3.30–5.30pm after school each Thursday in the seminar room – top of the mezzanine in the Terry Feely Learning Centre. Exam questions and writing materials will be provided for all VCE subjects. Students are provided with a silent space to write and supervision. This opportunity will be staffed throughout the remainder of Semester Two.

Naplan OnLine Readiness Test- East Campus

Between Monday, August 20 and Friday, September 7 a selected test group of East Campus Year 7 and 9 students will take part in a Naplan Readiness Trial. This trial is for the purpose of testing the capability and readiness of our technical systems. Numeracy and Literacy results of the test will not be returned to the College. If you have any questions regards the trial please contact Ms Sarah Slykerman, the Middle Years Leader at East Campus.

Outdoor Education hits the roads

As part of the Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation, the VCAL students have started the mountain bike program at the East Campus. The students take part in a number of practical lessons and will be learning riding skills, such as scanning, the power position, controlled braking, effective use of gears, bike maintenance, as well as how to ride on trails. Each lesson has a theory component followed by riding to a destination in the local area, which includes a trip to the Criterion at Casey Fields. The program concludes with a day excursion to Lysterfield Park, where students will have the opportunity to ride on graded trails in the park.
