CHPS Student Leadership

As grade six students, we had the privilege to run for the job of School Captain. There will be four
captains and they will replace our Junior School Council, helping to run our school, along with Megan and all the staff, of course! Those who nominated themselves had to write a speech explaining why they should be School Captain, how they show leadership in their everyday lives and an example of what they would do to help CHPS in 2019. Then on Monday morning, they performed the speeches in front of the whole of grade six, before we voted on the captains. We utilised the preferential voting sequence to nominate our Captains.
Before reciting our well-thought out speeches, we were ask to attend a series of meetings to demonstrate our commitment to the role. Of course, for these events we had an amazing turn out, with people ready to put forward their public speaking skills and show bravery as well as persistence. There were so many new ideas put forward, which just goes to show how diverse and unique our school community really is.
The results will be out by the start of term two and we will know who our School Captains are. Good luck to everyone who entered! You are all leader material.
