Dear Parents and Carers

It is hard to believe that the final term of 2018 is underway.  Term 4 is a busy time with a number of key events taking place.  For example:

- Prep Transition 2019

- School Fair

- Great Vic Bike Ride

- Science Show

- Grade 2 Sleepover

- P-3 Sports Day

Please go to the Important Dates section to view the dates of key events in term 4.

CLASS ALLOCATIONS FOR 2019

The following provides information regarding 2019 class allocations;

  1. All year levels will be mixed.
  2. Allocation of teachers to classes has not been finalised and will not be confirmed until November.
  3. Class lists will be forwarded home on Monday 16th December.

Over the coming weeks, children will be asked to list five friends they would like to be in their class next year.  We guarantee to place your child with at least one person from their list.  Please discuss this process with your child.

The composition of classes is a complex and delicate balancing act; taking into account friendships, learning styles and needs, suitability of teacher, combinations of children and a range of other factors.  Should you have a significant matter to raise in relation to class composition for next year you need to email  Megan Smith or Susan Williamson before Friday 9th November.  It is too late to enable changes after this date. Please note not all requests will be met, particularly in relation to requests for a preferred classroom teacher.

All matters relating to current years 1 and 2 should be directed to Susan Williamson and years Prep, 3, 4 and 5 to Megan Smith.

PREP TRANSITION PROGRAM

Our transition program for next year’s prep students will take place on the following dates from 9:30-10:45am;

  • Friday 16th November

There will be 4 Prep classes in 2019.  The Prep teachers for 2019 will be;

Lauren Pipicella, Kate Walder, Meg Devitre and Aya Schmeisser

We look forward to welcoming our new Preps to the school.

CHPS FAIR 2019

The annual school fair is fast approaching – Saturday 24th November.  To ensure that it is a success we need all families to provide their support.  This can be done in many ways;

  • Signing up for your classroom stall.  Information for all grades regarding classroom stalls should have been sent home via classroom teachers.
  • Donating goods for the many stalls on the day – second-hand clothes, books, toys, items for the silent auction hampers and wine for the wine raffle.
  • Becoming a member of the Fair Committee.

The Fair is the school’s biggest fundraiser for the year.  The money raised makes a huge difference to our school as it enables us to complete projects that we could not do solely through government provided funds.  Our school is what it is today because of the time and effort our families put into our Fair every year.  A list of Fair funded projects that have made a difference to our school are;

  • Building of the Science Centre
  • Cooling in the MPR
  • Solar panels for the school
  • Purchase of laptops for our Coding program
  • Upgrade of the Organ Factory Grounds

Last year's Fair money was allocated to the redesign of the Prep Courtyard area.  This is still a work in progress with the following design being considered.  Please view the file below and email any feedback to the School Council President, Vanessa Todd (chps_schoolcouncil@cliftonhillps.vic.edu.au) or Megan Smith (smith.megan.s@edumail.vic.gov.au) by Friday 2nd November.

I look forward to working with you to ensure another successful year for our Fair.  A huge thank you to our current Fair Committee.

Kind Regards,

Megan
