Mothers' Day

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mothers' Day last  Sunday and to those who were able to attend our Mothers' Day Breakfast we hope you enjoyed the occasion (along with the torrential rain and the noise  of being confined to the hall).

Thank you to all who assisted with the breakfast and our Mothers' Day Stall. A special thanks to Bernadette Healey who co-ordinated the purchase of the gifts which were selected by our Year 5/6 students; to Karen Thomas, Bernadette Healey, Belinda Miller, Gypsy Ponce, Kylie Feely and Bernadette Walsh for their work on the Mothers' Day stall; to Darren O'Brien and Tina Cuni for organising the catering and to Tim Karla, Rod Balart, Jack Turnbull, Richard Dinnen and Eva Galliano who headed up the BBQ.

Our school vision statement articulates our endeavours to seek what is ‘true, beautiful and good.’ No one does that more than a mother for their child.

It’s a big job. Always being available morning, noon and night to listen, laugh and love with their child; to guide, teach and train their child; to rejoice in the simplest to the most complex achievements while giving permission to fail; to help their child identify their skills and foster a love for life; to model with integrity – living what you say, being a model from which your child can learn what is true, beautiful and good.

You are who we look up to and whether in my role as principal, husband or father I have the privilege of witnessing first-hand what is true, beautiful and good in you as the mothers of our children. And for this, we thank you.

Baby Season

Congratulations to:

  • The Mendoza family (Sienna: Year 1) on the arrival of baby Mia  last Wednesday
  • The Vong family (Keagan: Year 1 and Morgan: Year 4)  on the arrival of baby Madison Amber also last Wednesday
  • The Pham Family (Eric: Year 1) on the arrival of baby Ethan over the holiday period.

We hope this is a wonderful time filled with lots of joy and happiness for each family.

Car Park

Once again we need to remind all parents to take care when driving through the school car park. Please only park in the marked bays and do not double park or park behind vehicles. All drivers must obey the No Standing areas at all times.

Three point turns and u-turns are not to be attempted in the driveway.

Children are not permitted to walk to cars on their own so parents are expected to collect their children from classrooms or at the front and rear entrances to the school. We all need to work together to keep all the children in our school community safe.

School Closure Day: Staff Professional Learning

Please be reminded that, as advertised in the School Calendar, on Thursday 24th May there will be a School Closure Day: Staff Professional Development Day.

Staff will be working with our Catholic Education  Learning Consultant, Margarita La Guidice, to deepen understanding and knowledge of High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS). The HITS are 10 instructional practices that reliably increase student learning wherever they are applied. They emerge from the findings of tens of thousands of studies of what has worked in classrooms across Australia and the world. International experts such as John Hattie and Robert Marzano have synthesised these studies and ranked hundreds of teaching strategies by the contribution they make to student learning.

This will be a wonderful opportunity for staff to consolidate their learning drawing upon practices already embedded in our Teaching and Leaning culture at Corpus Christi School.

Students do NOT attend school on this day.

Library News

Please ensure all children have returned their library books and bags by the end of this week so that we can begin the process of packing up the library in preparation for the building program.

Have a wonderful week

God Bless
