Police in Schools’ Program

This week sees the start of our Police in Schools’ Program for 2020. This program is targeted at our year 5/6 students from both campuses and helps the students to understand the role of police in the community, whilst also tackling a variety of issues that this age group of students may experience in the coming years. The sessions are held as class groups, with work completed with the support of their classroom teacher and two members of Victoria Police. We look forward to the partnership continuing over the year and for our students to showcase their commitment to building a highly respectful community.

Visitor Sign In - Pass Tab

Last year, our Buninyong campus enabled the new sign in and out platform for visitors called Passtab. Passtab enables our school to keep a digital record of who is in the school at any given point with the aim that this will support our child safety practices and emergency procedures.

If you are intending on visiting (longer than a drop-off) or helping out in your child’s classroom, we ask that you:

Come to the office

Sign in and collect a visitor’s pass or lanyard

Visit the key person in the school who you have organised to see

Return your visitor’s pass (or lanyard) at the completion of your visit and sign out

By doing this well, we will ensure everyone is safe on our site. We thank you for your cooperation with this in advance.

Late Arrivals and Early Collection of Children

Every now and then it is good to clarify expectations around what to do when your child is late arrivals or needs to depart early. Below is a summary for our processes for your reference:

Late arrival:

If your child is late to school, please:

Come to the office with them and sign them in by speaking to one of our office staff (students who do not have a parent with them have an unexplained lateness unless a parent clarifies).

Early departures (does not include normal pick up times):

If, for some reason, your child needs to leave school early:

Come to the office and speak with one of our staff. If you are unfamiliar to them, please don’t be alarmed if they ask you a couple of questions (they’re checking for your child’s safety).

Our staff will call through to the classroom and have your child sent up with their belongings and some buddies to the office.

*** Where possible, please try to call ahead and we can arrange for your child to come to the office with their bag and speed things up for you.
