A Fortnight in Review

We have a big week ahead of us with Primary swimming, Reception transition and Reception and Year 1 Nativity play.  You should have received a swimming schedule. If not, feel free to contact your child(ren)’s class teacher for times.  For the week, can students please bring:

  • School hat
  • Bag containing a towel, bathers (including a t-shirt or rashie), goggles (if needed), spare underwear, plastic bag for wet clothes and a jumper (after the lessons, students will get changed at the pool).
  • A water bottle
  • Puffer/Medication if required
  • Sun cream (if sensitive to generic store bought)

Time will be provided for children to change into their bathers at school before swimming lessons. Your child may prefer to wear their bathers to school under their uniform if needed.  For some classes, recess and lunch times will change.  Lunch orders, however, will continue to be delivered to classes at the normal lunch eating time of 12:50pm.  Please take this into consideration when arranging lunch for your child(ren).  A reminder that the pool canteen will be closed during our sessions.  Also, if you would like your child to have a shower after their lesson, a diary or Dojo note will be required.

Due to the cancellation of the Week 6 Primary assembly, we will be holding a special awards ceremony for those students who participated in the ICAS assessments in Term 3 and the Premier’s Reading Challenge throughout the year.  This will be held on Wednesday 27 November (Week 7).

Over the next two weeks we have:

Week 7

  • Primary Swimming (all week)
  • ELC Transition (Tuesday)

Week 8

  • R-11 School Orientation/ELC Transition (Monday)
  • Reception and Year 1 Nativity Play (Wednesday evening)
  • Fire Drill
  • Bounce Excursion Year 3-6 (Thursday)
  • Bounce Excursion R-2 (Friday)

Thank you for partnering with us.  Have a great weekend.

Take care.

Buddy Class Activities

Our Year 3s enjoyed time together in the library recently with one of our Year 8 classes. It's been a special year spending time together as classes and building friendships with others across the School.

Year 4s to Dunes Mini Golf

Recently the Year 4 classes travelled to Victor Harbor to experience forces in action at Dunes Mini Golf.  The students were experiencing forces in motion, gravity and friction every time they hit their golf ball!  Apart from a few near misses with golf clubs, kisses and cuddles with the marine and beach animals on site (aka statues) and the healthy competition of the game, fun was had by all.

We moved on to the brand new “train park” in Warland Reserve to experience science in real life!  We were delighted to find the playground had turned into a giant nature park with everything from a fort, nature cubbies and bridges to climb over.

Our last stop was to visit the Blue playground along the waterfront.  There were several challenging apparatuses for the children to explore demonstrating balancing, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting and climbing.  Isaac Newton would have been proud…….

A big thank you to Mrs Sam Todd and Mrs Lisa Hansen for assisting us on the day.

Year 2s Remember

The Year 2 students went on a field trip to the Soldier’s Memorial Gardens in Strathalbyn today as part of our learning about Remembrance Day and the history of Strathalbyn. Students walked to the garden where they participated in a scavenger hunt to find out about the time capsule and War Memorial.

Primary Swimming - Week 7
