Math Mentor Club and Euler Enrichment Scholarships

This year Mazenod College has sponsored 5 students  from year 7 and 8 to participate in a trial online Euler Math Enrichment Course. The course that traditionally is run from UWA after school, has been trialled as a pilot online mentoring program. The students participate in small online chat groups where they work through challenge problems and discuss and explore mathematical concepts.

The boys are supported at school through the Math Mentor Club that is run at Thursday lunchtimes. The club is open to all enthusiastic Mathematicians who want to challenge themselves and have fun solving Math problems. The Math mentor club aims to engage our budding mathematicians and build their skills in preparation for Math Competitions. In the future we will be having guest mentors from senior years who will be joining the group to help out and offer guidance.

Ethics Olympiad

We are proud to announce the first five students to represent Mazenod College in the Ethics Olympiad 2019, Mason Houlahan, Rohit Raj, Jacob Stockdale, Jenn Hurley-Green, Ben Donnelly and Darcy Greenwood. These boys will be representing the College next week (Wednesday 26th June) at St Mark’s Anglican Community School in this prestigious event. We are encouraging the boys to continue with our Ethics and Philosophy Club after the event which will both challenge them and hone their logical thinking skills. Mr Wallis and Mr Voakes have kindly offered to run the club and are acting as judges on the day of the competition. Any other boys who have a passion for ethical and moral issues, or who are curious about philosophy should contact Mr Voakes or Mr Wallis to see how they can participate in the club.
