The Young Vinnies and Sustainability group are working together to organise Mazenod College’s first Pop Up Op Shop and Fashion Show. The main event will take place on 28 June 2019, Friday lunchtime of Week 9, with a follow up event open to the wider community taking place after school on 2 July 2019, Tuesday of Week 10 prior to the Young Vinnies School Sleep Out.
To run the store we need to gain stock that is of good quality and would be sell-able to other students and the wider College community. We aim to keep prices low (gold coins) so that the students can purchase clothes for themselves and encourage the circular economy that is so evident with the trade in second hand uniforms. As so much of what is donated to Op Shops goes to landfill, we request that donations of clothing is in a good state of repair and suits the winter season. Both male and female clothing will be accepted. Any items not sold will be donated to St. Vinnies. Please can clothes be given to Mr Voakes in Room 106.
The highlight for the Friday lunchtime will no doubt be the Fashion Show. Some volunteer staff will allow students to dress them before they parade the items with the member of staff receiving the largest donation for St. Vinnies being declared the winner. There should be some interesting outfits and combinations!
Our ultimate aim is to sell all the donated stock at the College. Please support us by encouraging your son to participate and purchase some clothing on the Friday, or coming along and purchasing items after school on the following Tuesday.
