Year 5/6

Students in 5/6C and 5/6P have begun writing short stories… so for a bit of fun, we decided to publish one! Both grades voted on their favourite and the winner is Choetso Cohen who wrote the following…

Martin Anderson

This story is about Martin Anderson. He is a new kid who came to school last term. I have recently been studying him because I think he might be an alien. This is what I have found out.

At 8.50am he walks into class to put his bag down and reads The Book of 100 Jokes.

At 9.00am most days he goes to the bathroom and gets his hair.

At 9.30am he normally goes digging for gold.

At 10.00am he uses his calves as a boxing bag.

At 10.30am he eats the side of his cheek.

I could go on all the way to 3.30pm but that would be boring. I looked over my notes and soon realised Martin Anderson was not an alien. However, when I went home that night I remembered Martin Anderson didn’t take off his jacket and it was a 30 degree day. We played sport in the sun. The hot, steaming sun!

Before I went to bed that night, I started to think about all the possibilities of why he was wearing a jacket. Maybe he had a massive scar on his right elbow from fighting a T-Rex? Maybe he had a small conjoined twin coming out of his left elbow? Maybe he had a scaly left and right elbow? Then I realised, all of my reasons had something to do with an elbow… eventually I fell asleep.

The next day I snapped back into reality and thought he probably spilled something on his t-shirt. When all hope was lost, I swear I saw Martin Anderson take off his jacket and underneath (on Martin Anderson’s elbow), was his small conjoined twin coming out of his LEFT ELBOW!

During this term, we will begin programming our Lego EV3 robots. A few enthusiastic students compiled this video to show what might be involved.

Metro Competition

Following our Metro Incursion last term, a competition began which encouraged students to design a poster dealing with rail safety. Here are some of our entrants so far. We might even have some winners!
