Author of the month : Cassandra Clare
As mentioned in the last newsletter our students are currently excited to be reading ‘The Mortal instruments’ series. With vampires, fairies, angels, romance, steampunk, and modern New York all in one series, Cassandra Clare weaves an epic of teen heroes and heroines. Clare has also written a further series ‘The Infernal devices’ which are considered prequels to the Mortal instruments.

Student review by Sarah Sullivan (Year 7)
Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare, is the second book in the The Infernal Devices series, Clockwork Angel being the first, and is set in the 1800’s in London.
It is an urban fantasy novel. It is about half human half angels who call themselves Shadowhunters. The main character is a girl called Tessa who is not a Shadowhunter and not human either because she has the power to change into anyone. In Clockwork Angel Tessa is saved by Shadowhunters from people who have kidnapped her and are trying to use her powers to their advantage.
In Clockwork Prince, Tessa is still living with the Shadowhunters that saved her and they are trying to find out more so they can stop the villain and his Clockwork army. As well as the main problem, characters face their own personal problems.
If you loved The Mortal Instruments series, then you will definitely like The Infernal Devices as it is a prequel to The Mortal Instruments. Clockwork Prince is an excellent book.

Library – Temporary Closure
The library is being refurbished as part of the building works currently under construction adjacent to the library. This is a very exciting time and we look forward to the students enjoying fresh surrounding in term three.
To allow for these works, the library is closed until the start of term 3. During this time some limited library services are available in T8 including the lending of fiction for holiday reading and VCE revision guides, study guides, practice exams.
