VICTORIAN ROGAINING CHAMPIONSHIPS

This years VRA schools championship took place at Linton near Ballarat on 22nd June. Cool but fine conditions and an open forest in undulating terrain made for fast travel and high scores. Our 47 students put the theory they had learned in the past weeks into practice as they navigated their way in the five hour event. For the first year all teams managed to finish on time and thus avoid time penalties  and  Geographical embarrassment.

Once again we achieved some great results in a field of over 260 participants.

McKinnon retained the Christine Hall Girls Trophy and The Sheehan Mixed trophy with the following students contributing:

Girls Trophy (aggregate of top three scores)

Jessica Strudwick, Jade Wulken, Ofri Shahar, Anita Voloshin  (score 610 pts and 2nd in junior girls)

Ivy Jin, Marta Brzozowska, Helen Nozhenkova (score 590 pts and also first in senior girls)

Jacinta Strudwick, Ramanika Nair, Ebony Lockton ( score 580 pts)

Mixed Trophy (aggregate of top two scores)

Bridget Schwerdt, Thomas Broadbent, Loreal Scop, Lachlan Zachest ( score 490 pts)

Simon Boettcher, Arielle Cohen, Angela Chen ( score 450 pts)

First place David Whalan and Moran Zhou ( score 760 pts)

Students had a great day in the bush and if the past is any indicator they will be back for more next year. Thanks also to Mr Machin and Mr Zachest , Ms Mauger and Ms Roden who assisted and got hooked on their first rogaine.
