Strings Tour

On Thursday 29th July the Mid-Level Strings class together with Mrs. Oakes and Mrs. Drinnan, embarked on a tour of Shepparton. First stop was Bourchier Street PS where they played for a very large group of students including Foundation, Grades 5 and 6.

An early lunch was had in the north Shepparton food vicinity and then we travelled to Gowrie Street PS. At Gowrie St we were greeted by Mr. Warwick and a Grade 6 teacher and we performed in an outdoor undercover area to a very polite and interested group of Grade 5 and 6 students. Two students had a go at conducting the orchestra and they did very well!

After that we visited Acacia House in Tarcoola Village where we played to the residents. One resident also had a go at conducting us. At the end of the performance we were treated to a delicious afternoon tea including delicious cake, juice, tea and lovely fruit. Each student received a gift of a bag of fruit and chocolates before we headed back to school.

More String Success

Congratulations to Georgina Waser (Year 9) and Georgia Logue (Year 11) who have been rehearsing busily over the past few moths as part of the John Noble Quartet Program. Their hard work culminated in a performance last Saturday at the Lutheran Church where they played alongside the professional Flinders Quartet. They also featured in the Shepparton News on 2nd August.
