Year 12 Graduation
Once again the events surrounding the Year 12 Graduation have been a highlight of the school year. Approximately 535 people attended the Valedictory dinner where parents, guardians, grandparents and siblings joined the students in celebrating their achievements. On Thursday, 25th October, a full school assembly was held to farewell the students and this was once again an emotional time for all involved. Thank you to the many families who now end their formal connection with the school, and we look forward to hearing of the successes and achievements of these young people in the years ahead.
College Captains 2019
This year six girls and five boys nominated for the positions of College Captain for 2019. All staff and students were invited to participate in the voting process that was held under strict voting procedures over four lunchtimes in Week 2 starting immediately after the candidates gave their campaign speeches at a full school assembly. The leaders were announced at the Graduation Assembly last Thursday morning.
Our School Captains for 2019 are Hafza Bakhiet and Pat Jacobson and our Vice Captains are Ella Kerr and Brodie Poole. I am confident that they will continue to do the great work carried out by previous leaders. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our 2018 leaders in Shae Montgomery, Lochie Pellegrino, Sallie Drill and Kane Wilson for the terrific example they set for others to follow.

Year 10 to Year 11 Orientation Program
In light of the success of our orientation program for Year 11 students entering Year 12, we have decided to extend this program to include a week for our Year 10 students entering Year 11. This will take place in the week commencing Monday, 3rd December. Students will follow a similar timetable to the one they will have in 2019, with the majority of the teachers being the same ones they will have next year. We believe this is a really valuable way for students to commence their all-important VCE studies.
End-Of-Year Activities
Planning for the end of year “Activities Program” has commenced and these events will take place on Monday, 17th December and Tuesday, 18th December. Students have had an opportunity to select either full day or half day activities, some of which are free and others will incur a cost. All Year 7 to 9 students are expected to take part in the end of year activities and we look forward to your support with this program.
Progressive Reporting & SPA
Teachers are currently writing the next cycle of SPA and progressive reports for all students from Years 7 to 10. As the Year 11 exams are so close, Year 11 students will only receive a SPA report. These reports will be available to parents/guardians and students on Monday, 12th November.
School Crossing Use
There have recently been a number of dangerous incidents at the front of the school involving students crossing the road and causing traffic to slow down and sometimes stop completely. Teachers on yard duty have witnessed these incidents and have reported them to the Principal. We have a school crossing immediately in front of the school that all drivers respect. Can I ask parents and guardians of students who need to cross the road at the front of the school, especially in the afternoons, to encourage their child to use the school crossing.
