Helpful tips for Parents and Students doing NAPLAN

  • Taking care of your mind and body. Getting a good nights sleep before a test and eating a balanced diet can help to boost brain productivity.
  • Deep breathing if feeling anxious before test can help to lower heart rate and blood pressure and promote relaxation.
  • Positive self-talk. Saying positive affirmations such as "I am going to do my best" and "I can get through this" can help to increase positivity around the test and improve performance.
  • Parents can remind children to take their best guess if having a mind blank and to check their work once it is completed.
