Student Representative Council (SRC)

The SRC is looking forward to another fun year of planning exciting events and raising awareness about issues that are important to our school and wider community.

At the end of last year all students participated in a student voice symposium where they spent a day workshopping and developing skills for their roles, generated ideas and set goals for this year.

The SRC is working with the school’s BOCI group and we are planning to work together to run some events this term to celebrate the rich diversity of our school community for Harmony Week and also make and share purple ribbon pins to acknowledge International Women’s Day.

The theme for Harmony Day in 2023 is “Everyone belongs”. We hope that everyone feels like they belong in our wonderful school and we look forward to sharing and celebrating with everyone.

A message from the SRC president

Hi there! I’m Zahra, and I’m GEC’s 2023 SRC President. I’m in Year 12 and I’ve got a passion for Art, Biology and Chemistry (when we’re not doing titrations).

I’ve been part of leadership teams at GEC ever since my first year at this school, way back in 2020. I’ve found that SRC has always been a great way for me to meet with other like-minded peers, both in and out of my year. We’ve done great things together, like raising money for fundraisers and organising exciting events like Harmony Day (which we’re bringing back this year, bigger and better than ever before!). The role of SRC President is an exciting opportunity to have a strong impact on school life this year, and I’m looking forward to working with you all. If you have any questions or want to say hi, feel free to reach out!

Have a great month!
