Chess Tournament

Glen Eira College hosts a Chess Victoria interschool tournament

An interschool chess tournament involving 129 students, who formed a field of 21 teams representing nine schools, was held at Glen Eira College on Tuesday 7th March. This tournament was the largest ever chess event held at the College and included the participation of six Glen Eira College teams and 43 students from the College. Never before have so many students represented Glen Eira College in an interschool chess event.

All six Glen Eira College teams performed well and are to be commended for their efforts. At the conclusion of the tournament, the Glen Eira College A team finished in fourth position and five students from this team qualified to represent Glen Eira College in the Chess Victoria Secondary Open State Final. Another five students who were competing in the Glen Eira College Girls team also qualified to play in the Chess Victoria Secondary Girls State Final. Both state finals will be held in October this year.
