What is Reading Eggs? 

Reading Eggs is an online platform where children learn to read. It supports each child’s learning by offering individual, one-on-one lessons that allow children to progress at their own rate.

Reading Eggs is an enjoyable experience for children where they may not even know that they are practicing reading skills. 

The program focuses on a core reading curriculum of phonics and sight words using skills and strategies essential for sustained reading success. It is designed to teach basic reading skills, phonics, sight words, vocabulary, comprehension and fluency through interactive games, activities and lessons. It supports what children are learning at school and teachers are able to set tasks that align with what is being taught in the classroom. 

How to get the most out of Reading Eggs

Reading Eggs consists of four components Reading Eggs, Fast Phonics, Reading Eggspress and a Library. So, what does each component target?

Reading Eggs consists of levels that your child progresses through in which they read books and complete phonics activities – this is the most popular component. 

Reading Eggspress is an extension of Reading Eggs and is targeted at older students (ages 7-13) it focuses on building comprehension, grammar, spelling and writing skills through a variety of activities such as quizzes, e-books and writing challenges. 

Fast Phonics on the other hand, is a stand-alone program that specifically teaches phonics skills. It is designed for children aged 5-10 years and is aimed at helping them learn how to read by teaching them phonics rules, sound recognition and decoding skills. Children progress through levels in which they complete activities, watch videos, read books and earn rewards on the way! 

The library is a platform where your child can access books to read targeted at their reading level. Each book concludes with comprehension questions. The best part is that your child can read the book or opt to have it read to them!

Furthermore, you and your child’s classroom teacher are also able to keep track of your child’s progress on this platform.
