Term 1 Sport
Senior boys cricket kick started the year in style cruising through the Casey South Division stage of cricket in early February with Taj Powar hitting 92. The boys progressed to the regional stage but unfortunately just came up short. Despite the loss the boys played in a spirit that reflected the values embedded in the school culture, displaying responsibility and respect for oneself, each other, opponents, staff and umpires. The senior boys and girls volleyball teams also put in strong performances, with the girls only just losing out in the final by 2 points. Despite the loss, the senior teams characterized the spirit of sport displaying a strong sense of togetherness and camaraderie.
Year 8 Sport followed suit with the boys Cricket, Tennis and Volleyball teams all winning their respective division finals and will progress to regionals in May. In particular, the boys’ volleyball team showcased tenacity and resilience playing with 1 player short all day. The girls’ volleyball team were also extremely competitive at the division stage, finishing 4th overall. The strong start to Term 1 sport has highlighted the sporting excellence at Cranbourne East Secondary College. To watch all the students positively modelling behavior and school uniform expectations highlights the pride of being associated with Cranbourne East Secondary College.

Next week (21st March) the CESC whole school Athletics Carnival will take place at Casey Fields. The Athletics Carnival is a great opportunity for students and staff to build strong relationships and relish the opportunity to earn points for their house. Its always enjoyable to see staff and students dress up in their house theme/colour’s to make lasting memories. The house themes for this year are as follows:
Chisholm = 80s Disco
Deakin = Disco Deakin
Florey = Flower Power
Gilmore = Jungle
Parkes = Retro red
With the school sport fixtures well underway this term, we will see the Intermediate and Year 7 cricket, tennis and volleyball teams compete in the upcoming weeks. Please ensure you follow the CESC Facebook page for updates and photos of inter school sport.
At CESC, we share a common moral purpose: “Giving every student every opportunity to exceed their potential by providing a high quality pathway to success”.
Kind regards
