Year 9 Becoming Men Father-Son River Walk

Becoming Men is a Rite of Passage program consisting of weekly sessions in which Year 9 students are instilled with important values that will equip them with the tools and inner fortitude to tackle the many hurdles teenagers face today.

Last week, we held the annual Father–Son River Walk, which saw the Year 9 students and their fathers/father figures begin the day with constructive and meaningful before-school activities.

Comprising of a walk along the river to Heirisson Island, presentations from a TC father and his son (Class of ’22 Old Boy), followed by light refreshments in Gibney Hall, each father and son took the time to discuss the year ahead, the nature of their relationship, and how they and the TC community can work together to help the students achieve their goals.

Year 7 Becoming Brothers Camp

The Year 7 Becoming Brothers Camp took place this week at Camp Kelly and aims to demonstrate to students the importance of building relationships, cultivating resilience and the importance of mentors. These values we attempt to instil in our students at Trinity College are daily values and attitudes that we must learn to know and live each day.

Students participated in kayaking, raft building, hiking, and initiative games. Most importantly, they learnt to work together to form friendships and create long-lasting memories.

Year 7 - Sustain Our Swan

The Sustain Our Swan program kicked off this week to raise awareness of the Swan River’s delicate ecosystem and the part our students can play in sustaining it. Year 7 students participated in a reflection walk along the Swan River with Noongah Elder Nick Abraham from Warrang Bridil. He explored the importance of Water and how everyone has a responsibility to respect the country for now and coming generations.

Finishing off with a smoking ceremony, they warded off negative energy to invite the positive energy to go and open their head and hearts to appreciate what was here before, what they have now and for the future.

Additional visitors from Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and Amy Wild Adventures visited the school this week as part of the Sustain Our Swan program. By interacting with the wildlife and the Swan River, students better understand how to protect the ecosystems and inhabitants.
