Performing Arts

Dear families

Delightful music and an abundance of enthusiasm have filled the Performing Arts room this term.

Prep

Students have learned a range of songs this term including:

Nicky Nacky Nocky Noo

Hot Day, Cold Lizard

Sit on the Mat and Clap

In the Summertime

Perhaps your Prep student could perform one of these songs for you at home!

We have danced with scarves, played instruments and created soundscapes. Students have been exploring the concepts of fast/slow, high/low and loud/soft through making connections, singing, playing instruments, acting and dancing.

Grade 1 and Grade 2

Students have explored beat through games such as “Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar” and listening activities. They have been challenged to clap the beat to a range of music from different time periods.

We have been working on playing a range of tuned percussion instruments and can now confidently play “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” as a class.

Over the next couple of weeks, students will be composing their own musical pieces.

Choir

This term, Choir is being offered to students in Grade 5/6. Students will develop their vocal technique and share their love of singing during weekly rehearsals. Keep an eye out for the choir leading the singing of the National Anthem at assemblies! We look forward to performing some new pieces in the coming weeks.

Kind regards,

Kate Warner
