Child Safety - New Building Works

Soon you will notice construction work commence on the Integrated Learning Centre (ILC). This facility will also host an Early Learning Centre (ELC) that will provide a unique and nurturing environment for children as they take their first steps in their education. An inquiry-based curriculum will follow the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and the Australian Early Years Learning Framework. The ELC will provide a balance of structured programs and play-based experiences, including nature and farm play using our unique ‘Farmhouse’ theme. Through the ILC, the community will benefit from access to on-site specialist facilities which may include Maternal Health Care facilities and a Speech Pathologist.

The ILC will be located on the land at the southern end of the Tarneit campus, near the Senior Years building. Temporary fencing will be erected during the construction period and the main carpark will not be impacted with traffic and car parking for parents and visitors remaining unchanged.

The ILC will be opening in 2024. More information will be available soon on how community members can register interest in this exciting new learning opportunity.

Child Safety - Drop off and Pick up

Please be aware that the drop-off zone outside of the Administration building is not a car park. Parents are to drop their children off and continue driving to either leave the campus or find a car park. If using a carpark, then students must cross at the allocated zebra crossings. Double parking is not permitted at any time.

There are several reserved carparks in the staff carpark, near the main entrance. Please ensure that you do not park in these.

IB International Conference

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Global Conference is the ultimate opportunity for educators to learn from experts, share their own experiences, and network with colleagues from all over the world. GNLC was pleased to send several staff to attend this conference. We were also pleased that our Mambourin Campus Coordinator, Ms Lara Ronalds, was invited to present a session on Playful Pedagogy.

Held over three days in Adelaide, Australia, on 18–21 March 2023, the conference featured an extensive line-up of inspirational speakers, staff and peer-to-peer breakout sessions, networking opportunities, and much more.

Our theme for 2023: Education for an inclusive future.

Navigating the evolving educational landscape requires critical conversations that challenge us to be more open and forward-thinking in our approach to learning and teaching. The global education community can continue empowering an entrepreneurial generation of change-makers who are equipped to redefine their future.

German - Education Perfect Languages Championships Update

Students from more than 50 different language backgrounds are studying at GNLC. In addition to the languages learnt and spoken at home and in their communities, students learn German throughout Years Prep to 9 and choose Pre-VCE and VCE German in their Senior Years.

Speaking another language apart from Australian English is a gift that many of our students receive from their parents and families. It is wonderful to see how our students show an appreciation and respect for their languages and cultural background.

Our students have taken part in the Languages Championships held by Education Perfect (EP). EP is a learning platform that supports most subject areas taught at the College. With more than 2500 schools taking part in the competition globally, of which more than 700 schools offer German, it is with great pride that German currently places on the leader board:

  • 12th globally (out of more than 1000 schools)
  • 13th in Australia
  • 4th in Victoria

Our students’ results show not only their curiosity for and skill in individual languages but also their understanding that language learning follows patterns that can be adapted to more than one language.

Our students are truly displaying the skills required for global citizenship.
