Open Girls League Tag

On Friday 23rd of March, Kildare competed in the Open Girls League Tag Gala Day. The day began as a little overcast, with the remnants of the rain from the day before hanging around, resulting in the field being very wet underfoot. The girls were scheduled to play three games, each game consisting of two ten-minute halves.

In their first game, the girls came up against Wagga Christian College, coming out victorious 12-4. Next up they played Coolamon Central School. The girls performed strongly once again, and played outstandingly in both defence and attack, winning this game 32-0. This meant that the girls finished on top of their pool and as a consequence played against Tumbarumba in the final.

Likewise to the previous two games that the girls had played, they demonstrated outstanding communication, teamwork and sportsman skills. A big congratulations to the girls winning their final 24-4. As a result, the girls have progressed to the Riverina Open League Tag Finals Gala Day.

A big thank you to the parents that came along to support the girls and helped out throughout the day.

Preston-Butcher Cup Final

Close Encounter

On Wednesday 22 March, our KCC Open Girls Touch team played their semi-final and final games at Jubilee Park. We won the semi-final 11-3 against Kooringal High School and then had a huge tussle with Mater Dei Catholic College in the final. We led by two touchdowns a couple of times during the game but on the siren the score was 4-4. However, in the drop-off Mater Dei scored a late touchdown to win the Preston-Butcher Open Girls Touch Competition. Congratulations to our player, Holly Williams, who was awarded player of the match.

Well done to the team which included: Charley Clout, Zara Connolly, Olivia Driscoll, Brianna Elphick, Jessica Graham, Abbey Hartley, Abbey Hodge, Kaitlin Logan, Maeve Jackson, Amelia Moon, Shayla Watson, Holly Williams, Annie Willis and Baylee Wright.

Our girls played really well and displayed excellent sporting spirit. They did KCC proud. A big thanks to Mrs Murphy and Ms Campbell for their assistance on the sideline. Thanks to all the supporters who came to watch the games. Thanks also to Hunter Schultz and Jackson Connolly for refereeing our round games.

Diocesan Tennis

On Thursday 2nd of March, the Kildare tennis team was fortunate enough to participate in the Diocese Tennis Tournament at Bolton Park. Our Boys and Girls teams faced off against various other schools within the Riverina, with the goal to achieve as many successful games as possible. The Boys team included Albert and Ewan Middleton, Riley Bradshaw, Alister Wright and Charles Malone.

The Kildare Boys team started strong, smashing Mater Dei, winning 6 out of 8 of their sets. Unfortunately their good form did not carry on, losing the majority of their next games to Xavier College. However, after this loss, Kildare went on a winning streak, sweeping Marian College Griffith and St Francis College Leeton, solidifying their overall spot of second place. Our Girls team consisted of Sage Maidment Clark, Zoe Heyhorn and Gabriella Mannell. The girls displayed excellent sportsmanship and determination in the heat, coming away with wins in a few games.
