Fabulous 5/6

Grade 5/6

Term 1 Week 8 2023 - Friday 24th of March 2023

Message from the Teacher:

Congratulations to all the year 5 students who completed their NAPLAN testing this week. From all reports everyone tried their best and took the testing seriously. It was a short and difficult week 7, but I want to commend the students on their patience and their resilience. We will be returning to our regular scheduling this week and next, continuing on with our persuasive writing and moving into addition for the final few weeks of term.

We have some big events coming up at the end of term to look forward to. The tee-ball lightning premiership is coming up and the boys and the girls’ teams both have good shots at going far in the tournament. All 5/6 students will be going to the tournament and playing on the day. We also have the Le Page Parliament Day coming up in Week 10, where students role play running Australia for the day.

What have we been up to?

Hi, I am Shy and I am a leader in Arts, and I am Joshua and I am a leader in Top Gun.

These last two weeks, we have been working on our persuasive texts. Both of us wrote about why students should not have social media. Last week, the year 5s completed their NAPLAN tests. The last one was the Maths test which was the hardest one because of the language they used. The way to get through it was with a good attitude and taking your time.

The boys and the girls had a T-Ball game on Friday against Southmoor. The girls won and the boys sadly lost.

We also did fun Science such as stretching out gummy worms to see how long they can go, chemical reactions and testing out different theories, for example we put Mentos into a cola bottle and waited what happened. We also tried out how many teaspoons of sugar dissolve in water.

I am excited to finish off my persuasive text (Shy) and I am looking forward to the mock parliament in week 10 (Josh).
