College Captains and Vice Captains for 2023
As advised last Newsletter we have been undertaking the process to select our College Captains and Vice captains for next year.
This process has concluded and after a rigorous selection process, I am delighted to announce the College Captains and Vice Captains for 2023 are:
College Captains
Alessi Green
Grace Berryman
College Vice Captains
Georgia Hamilton
Jeffrin Mathew
Gabrielle Perry
On behalf of all in the Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College community, we congratulate these fine young people on their selection as our College Captains and Vice Captains for 2023.
We had a large number of students put themselves forward to their peers and teachers to be considered for selection. They all would have been worthy of the role and I am sure they will make considerable contributions in one of a number of important leadership roles also available to students. I look forward to seeing all of you - Sage Anderson, Vismaya Biju, Athena Dowdle, Martha Dunemann, Cassie Jones, Sofia Jones, Jack McNally, James Rowe and Mia Schneidruk. - being part of our College leadership team next year.
Finally, thank you to all involved in the process, in particular, John Ryan and Bronwyne Croatto.
College Assembly – Walkathon Presentation of Cheques
Today we held a College Assembly primarily to present to the five charities we are supporting this year with their allocation of the donations accumulated through the Walkathon and Homeroom fundraising activities.
We raised over $13,300 with approximately two-thirds from the Walkathon and the remaining third from the homeroom activities. We had aimed to raise a minimum of $11,000 and so exceeding this by over $2,300 is a fantastic effort.
Because we exceeded our goal we were able to provide additional monies to the three main charities we supported this year. Accordingly, Disabled Surfers received $3,500, Shepherd’s Table received $3,500 and Project Kenya received $4,000. Additionally, the charities we support on an annual basis, Mary MacKillop Today and Trinity Families each received $1,000.
I know all charities are very grateful for the money and that it will a difference in communities local and international.
During the assembly, we also acknowledged students who raised in excess of $100. Well done to the following students: Jhai Townley-Hulls (7B), Jessica Lawson (7E), Owen Maskell (8B), Charlotte Amor (8C), Holly Carr (8D), Mathilde Joske (8E), Harry Hoekstra (10B), Noah Furness (10D), Grace Bennett (10D), Will Patton (10D), Christine Denbrok (Cam 1), Charli Hall (Cam 1), Ava Patterson (Mac 1) and Tahlia Zizic (Mac 2). Well done to all these students for their efforts and thanks to every person who raised money.
Thank you to our Justice Captains, College Captains and Vice Captains who were supported by Elise Dowling, Kapil Bhargava and John Ryan in collecting and counting the donations. This was done over a number of weeks at lunchtimes.
Finally, I wish all a very safe and relaxing term break and look forward to seeing you in Term 4.
