Book Week

On Tuesday 23rd August our students and teachers enjoyed several animated and highly amusing presentations by the author Michael Wagner as part of our Book Week celebrations!

Our Library Captains eagerly greeted Michael on arrival and assisted him in setting up before their impeccably delivered introductions and thank you speeches. Well done to Caine, Chloe and Zara for your efforts.

The sessions were cleverly tailored to suit his audience. While our senior students were gifted some wise and thought provoking writing tips, the junior students were invited to help re-enact his own hilarious tales from childhood and share some his valuable lessons about growing up!  Our Foundation students were treated to Michael’s wonderful storytelling and delighted in some of the cheeky illustrations!

Michael gave time for each group of students to ask questions and share their own thoughts.

We were all given a sneak peek of his forthcoming new release, Dirt By Sea, which is already on pre-order for our shelves and signed a poster which is proudly on display in the Library.

A wonderful highlight was when Chris from 6A got to share his amazing sketching talents with Michael, who passed on some wonderful words of praise and encouragement – congratulations Chris!

Here are a couple of photos and some great words of wisdom for all of our budding authors:

Journals help you get started and get unstuck!

Stories help us to make fewer mistakes!

Ideas come from funny moments, memories, noticing the world, random thoughts and overactive imaginations!

Ideas appear when YOU decide to look for THEM!

Premiers Reading Challenge

Can you believe the Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge comes to a close on Friday 3rd September!  We urge all of our wonderful participants to ensure your data is complete for the final tally!

Prizes will be awarded to our top 5 readers along with a special prize for the overall winning class. Our Library Captains will be delivering the final results during our next Assembly.

We would like to congratulate everyone who has taken the time to participate this year and hope that you have enjoyed the many books that have been read as part of this great initiative, well done!
