Principal's Report
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
I can't believe it is the end of Term 3 already! When I think about all that we have done over the past 10 weeks it is truly remarkable what our amazing community can achieve. This term the main events have been:
- Grandparents Day
- Prep 100 Days of School
- P&F Student Disco
- Prayers in Pajamas - Prep and Year 2
- Family Masses Prep and Year 2
- Life Ed Van
- Whole School Swimming Program
- School Review Preparation for Term 4
- Parents' Major Event - 'Finchella'
- Father's Day Breakfast and Stall
- Dad's Footy Match V's St. Joan of Arc (50 point win to St. Finbar's!)
- District Athletics
- Year 5 Beach Camp
- St. Finbar's Feast Day Celebrations (Tomorrow)
It really has been an action packed term. I am looking forward to what term 4 has to offer. I hope you all have a great Term 3 holiday break and I look forward to a bright start for Term 4 in a few weeks time.
Uniform Shop Price List
Due to the increased costs of wholesale uniform supplies, we have had to make some changes to our current uniform pricing list.
We have not had a pricing increase for four (4) years and as such, it is now necessary to adjust our prices accordingly. These increases will take place immediately.
Please see the attached Uniform shop price list.
Many items have remained the same, however, items where were making a net loss to the Uniform Shop have been adjusted accordingly.
School Summer Uniform
Summer or winter uniform can be worn from the first week of Term 4 with all students expected to be in Full Summer uniform by Monday 17th October (Week 3, Term 4). All students will be expected to wear school hats from the first day of Term 4, please ensure the correct navy school hat is worn. Hats can be purchased from the Uniform Shop for $15. Any student who does not have a school hat will be asked to remain in the sheltered area between the Thomas Sherry and Marie Clare Playgrounds – no exceptions. This is in line with our sun-smart school policy - 'No Hat - No Play.'
MACSSIS School Surveys
The MACSSIS parent surveys will close tomorrow - Friday 16th September - the last day of Term 3. All staff and Years 4-6 students have had the opportunity to complete their surveys as well. Please ensure your feedback is registered to help us with school wide improvement strategies.
Out of Hours Care
My sincere thanks to the School Advisory Council who met with me last night in an emergency meeting to discuss the 4 submissions that I have received from different companies interested in running our Out of Hours Care program and Holiday Care program. I am very happy to announce that Team Kids has been the successful applicant to run the program for the next 12 months. New registration details and their official starting date will be communicated over the school holidays as we iron out the final details. I am hoping for a beginning of Term 4 start, however I will keep the community appraised of our progress via email.
Elevator Progress
I am very pleased to present the final version of our new mural for the external walls of the school elevator. The SRC (Student Representative Council) has provided feedback and they wanted to include a tribute to the Gum tree that used to be on the Mary Clare playground. I provided a picture of the Gum tree to Alex Sugar our resident artist and he certainly delivered the good in his final design - honouring a past icon of the St. Finbar's playground. FYI - The Gum tree was removed for safety purposes in January 2019. Please see below for the finished design to be started next week.
Trades through the school over the Holidays
Over the coming Holiday period we will have a number of trades through the school.
- Paul our resident painter will be freshening up different inside areas, as it has been a while since we have painted the corridors and admin areas.
- We will be having a new NBN line installed to the school from Wallen St (Underground). There will be some excavation work completed on Monday and Tuesday next week under the green steps of the drive through area, but I am reliably informed there will be no damage to our court and playground area. (I will be keeping a close eye on proceedings. ;)
- Internal plaster works will proceed around the elevator areas - upstairs and downstairs and hopefully will be completed by the start of Term 4.
- Alex Sugar will begin the Mural on the Elevator external walls - the expected finish time is 1-2 weeks.
Farewell and Welcome
At the end of this Term we say farewell to Isiah M (Year 2) - we hope you enjoy your new school, beginning in Term 4.
We also welcome the following Students to our amazing community who will be starting in Term 4 - Cameron B (Year 1), Madeline R (Year 2), Olivia B (Year 4) and a special welcome back to Giselle S (Year 5).
Year 5 Beach Camp
I had the pleasure of attending the Year 5 Beach Camp this week in Waratah Bay. I would like to acknowledge the amazing work of Miss Annalisa Gourley and Mr Matt Callery our Year 5 teachers who did a fantastic job in getting the students ready for camp and for all of the paperwork that goes with such an undertaking. I would also like to thank Mrs Sue Humble who helped with supervision on the camp. Most importantly, I would like to thank the Year 5 students who were amazing for all of the 3 days whilst away. They were a delight to spend time with! Those who know me, know that I expect very high standards for student behaviour whilst away representing our school. The Year 5 students far exceeded my expectations whilst on this camp. Excellent manners and positive attitudes were very prevalent all during the camp. The students were a credit to their families and the school. Well done!
Baby News!
Congratulations to Mr. Steele Anderson and his wife Georgia on the safe arrival of Baby Wesley this morning. A little brother for big sister Darcie.
God Bless
