Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden

This year marks 10 years of The Stephanie Alexander kitchen garden program at Kingswood Primary School. To celebrate we are holding a morning tea with our past and present volunteers and staff who have helped shape our program which has seen many changes over these years.

To help prepare for the occasion many of the students have made something delicious to share with our guests. Some of the tasty treats on offer include date, chocolate and oat Bliss Balls, lemon curd to serve with Meringues, edible flower and herb pressed shortbread cookies and rosemary and sea salt crackers to serve with cheese. All made with care and attention to detail.

Our students in year 4 and 6 have also created some beautiful pieces of work to share, from poems to pieces of art to show their learning and express gratitude.

In 10 years, we have certainly seen our program grow and evolve. From the very first tilling of the soil in our back garden, we now stretch across the quadrangle with our wicking beds connecting our kitchen and garden. Our kitchen has also had a makeover with the removal of our bright orange bench tops to make way for modern stone benches.

Throughout this time, the students have shared many special moments, prepared delicious meals, connected with community through our volunteers and continue to do so as they grow, harvest, prepare and share in The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program.
