Year 9 Sponge Competition

As a part of Year 9 Patisserie, students took part in a bake off competition for the "Best Sponge Cake".  Staff members were invited to take part in the tasting and voting for the best sponge cake.  It was a very hard decision and after much deliberation Alex Fisher was declared the winner with a Lemon Curd Topped Vanilla Sponge.

A BIG THANK YOU to our Macleod College Community - students, families and staff - for your contributions to the Macleod Community Pantry. The goods are really helping those in need! Last week alone, we've had over 200 items donated. We're running the food drive until August 31st.

German Speaking Contest

Macleod College students reached state level in the recent German Speaking Contest. On Thursday August 11th Macleod hosted the Regional Finals of the German Poetry Competition for Years 7 to 9. It was fantastic that 26 of our students participated, reciting their poems with confidence and flair.

All students received a “goodie bag” with German chocolate, lollies and badges plus recess snacks of Knoppers und Spekulatius. Our venue, the library, was decorated with colourful posters hand-made by Year 7 German classes and our judges were two native speaker students, Zoe Moenning of Year 10 and Neo Kuntsche of Year 11.

With such enthusiastic involvement, it is no surprise that Macleod carried away 6 medals. Warmest congratulations to our Gold Medallists Esther Frawley and Lian Shaweesh, our Silver Medallists Erin Starmans and Grace Darcy and for Bronze Mia Grbic and Yaseen Al-Aubaidy. Esther, Erin, Grace and Yaseen will now be representing Macleod at the State Final of this Competition at the Austrian Club on Saturday 27 August.

We wish them viel Erfolg / much success.
