Ryde Council Need a Lift- Youth Photography Competition

The Need a Lift youth photography initiative invites young people to ‘tune-in’ to the people, places or things around them that ‘lift’ their mood by submitting an original photograph that encapsulates a positive mental health strategy, along with a brief description explaining why.

The unique and innovative aspect of this initiative is that all entries will be judged by a panel of young people, with a selection of photographs professionally printed and publicly exhibited during Mental Health Month within the elevators of Health and Council facilities across the Northern Sydney region, with the tag-line “Need a Lift?’.

As an incentive for young people to participate there will be multiple prizes on offer. The prize for the overall winner is a $350 JB Hi-Fi voucher as well as an overall runner up $250 voucher. There will also be three age categories (12-15 years, 16-18 years & 19-24 years) where selected winners will receive a $150 JB Hi-Fi Voucher, and a Peoples’ Choice award of a $250 voucher.

Knitting

The School Support Community team are focusing on 'giving back' in Term 3/4 and we are preparing to make some dementia fidget cuffs for a local Aged Care Centre. If you have capacity or would like to do something to relax - or have family/friends who enjoy such activities - we ask if they could knit / Crochet one for us? The pattern was bought by a Year 11 grandparent and then shared with us. The Library staff are leading the way with 2 spectacular ones - thank you Ms Emmerson and Ms Khoo.

Drop off to Lucy's office in A block or to the library where the lunch groups will complete them. Please leave a name attached to the offering so we can send a thank you note.
