Principals Report

It's been another busy two weeks at Rochester Secondary College for students and staff.

Living our Values - Being the best learner and person you can be

Earlier this term we recognised nearly 90 students who were nominated by their teachers for demonstrating our school values. Our purpose at Rochester Secondary College is to ensure our students develop into the best learner and person they can be, and these students who were recognised are demonstrating that they are doing their best to achieve this in a variety of ways. We celebrated our students’ achievements by providing them with a special lunch. Congratulations to all students who were involved.

Athletics Carnival

What a fabulous day we had at our school Athletics carnival.  For our Year 8 and 9 students, it was the first time they participated in our Athletics carnival as we could not run it during the past two years due to COVID lockdown.  Everyone enjoyed the carnival atmosphere with staff and students dressing in innovative ways to represent their house colours.  All students showed great sportsmanship by cheering and encouraging all competitors in events and taking part.  House points were given to all participants, and the sausage sizzle was a major success.  Well done to all our students for their camaraderie and behaviour on the day and thank you to staff for their work and support.  Finally, a very big thank you to Mr Moyle and supporting team for all their time in planning and coordinating the entire event and promoting school House spirit.

A reminder that Wednesday 7 September is also a student free for all students except for those undertaking the GAT. Students undertaking the GAT on this day have been informed when to attend.

Staff Work

Staff have also been busy throughout Term 3 working on reviewing current approaches and practices to support students’ engagement and wellbeing at school, as well as focusing on the college’s instructional teaching model to support the learning and teaching program.  They will continue to focus on this work throughout the remainder of the year, and will use dedicated time on our upcoming GAT day in Term 3 to continue this work.
