Science Week
Theme: Glass
Early Years
The students enjoyed a range of activities during Science Week including a Science chemistry demonstration in which Mrs Weaire showed a reaction of elephant toothpaste. It fizzled and bubbled over the top of the beaker. Students attended an exciting show from Scitech which included various experiments getting everyone excited for future Science lessons.
Primary
The Primary students participated in various Science quizzes around the College. The students participated in the theme of glass by making a mosaic coaster. Using glass as the main medium for the activity, students were able to design and construct a creative piece. Students participated in a glass themed game of Charades using descriptive language and actions to guess the glass object. We also watched some fascinating glass blowing videos! Upper Primary students used Minecraft Education to construct a structure or building made primarily from glass – there were some amazing creations! We were treated to a Scitech show and were dazzled by the knowledge of the presenters. There were many Science experiments that opened our eyes to the possibilities that Science has for the future.
Secondary
The Secondary students enjoyed a range of activities during Science Week including a Science quiz during PCG each morning. All students taking part in the famous scientist activity run throughout the College, as well as the Scitech incursion which focussed on STEM careers. Students in Year 8 played elemental bingo and in Year 7 students made oobleck, and some used the chalk pens to design over glass
