From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents and Carers

There has been lots happening at Salvado Catholic College over the last couple of weeks and there is lots planned over the next few weeks too!

Our Year 7 and Year 8 ACC Athletics team competed today and it was wonderful to hear of the efforts of all our students in attendance. Thanks Mr Loh for preparing the students after a very successful Middle School Inter-House Athletics Carnival. Thanks also to Mr Old for his time and efforts.

Congratulations to our Year 7 and Year 8 students who were involved in Creative Edge Problem Solving Challenge last weekend and to Mr Meynell for preparing and supporting the students. They represented themselves and the College amazingly! Read more about this great opportunity in the Middle School section of the eNewsletter.

A huge thank you to our Kindergarten and Pre-Primary Staff for yesterday morning's Father's Day Breakfast and activities that were arranged for our Kindergarten and Pre-Primary dads and father figures. We had a great turn out and the students loved hanging out with them at breakfast and in their Learning Spaces. A highlight for me was seeing how proud our little Kindy and Pre-Primary students were in showing their dads/grandfathers/father figures around. I also loved their manners as they all thanked us for cooking them breakfast. What superstars!

Our Year 7 and Year 8 students will also be enjoying a Father's Day breakfast and some activities in the Covered Assembly Space tomorrow morning. We look forward to welcoming everyone and enjoying some time together. Thanks in advance to the Middle School staff who are coming along and helping out too!

We continue to encourage all our parents/carers to take up the invitations as they arise to get involved at Salvado Catholic College. As we continue to move forward, it is great to see more and more of our parents/carers getting involved in helping out. With more and more families joining the College, it would be wonderful to see the load shared amongst all our families, for the benefit of all our students.

Our Kindy are looking forward to their Kindy Fun Sports Morning next Wednesday 7 September and our Primary students are looking forward to their Field Event days and then Athletics Carnival on Friday 9 September. Our Year 6 students are very excited about their Camp in Week 9 and our Year 5 students are off to New Norcia on Friday 16 September to learn more about Dom Rosendo Salvado and the community that he built.

Talking of builds, our Stage 3B first floor fit out is almost complete. Our Year 7 and Year 8 students will be moving upstairs from the commencement of Term 4 and all our students and staff in the College are looking forward to accessing our new Library and Technology Hub upstairs too!

I will be attending the National Catholic Education Conference in Melbourne from Monday to Wednesday next week with Mrs Munro. The Conference will see Catholic leaders from WA and across Australia coming together to promote examples of best practice and plan future directions to continue the flourishing of vibrant and authentically Catholic learning communities across Australia. In our absence, Mrs Pitman and Mr McGrath will be looking after the students, staff and College community.

Wishing all our dads and father figures a wonderful Father's Day this Sunday.

We also remember the dads that have passed away and are looking over us too.

Peace & Happy Days!

Principal
