Marine Discovery

On Friday September 2nd, both Brooklyn Park Year 1/2 classes went on an excursion to the Marine Discovery Centre at Star of the Sea School in Henley Beach. We were able to learn about marine animals, and the way that we can look after them. We learnt about the effect of pollution has on our waterways, and how our bin system works to ensure that as little rubbish as possible goes into landfill.

Throughout the day students were able to participate in a beach walk, where they observed all the different natural and manmade items on the beach. Other activities included using VR headsets to explore the ocean, participating in several interactive games and meeting the variety of marine life in the aquarium.

The students had a wonderful time, and an important part of this was due to the wonderful parent helpers we had on the day. We are very grateful for their support!
