SACSA Netball

In Week 5, students from Years 3 to 10 from both campuses took part in the annual SACSA Netball Carnival held up at Golden Grove Netball Courts.

Although these carnivals are long and tiring days, they are memorable for the players and the coaches! Memorable factors that were experienced last week were:

  • impressive match results achieved
  • individual growth and development
  • socialising and meeting others from opposition teams,
  • strengthening of relationships with team members and
  • consistent rain!

Our students supported one another when possible during their rounds off. The cheering and encouragement being yelled-out after skillful acts, or impressive play for both teams was great to see and hear.

Thank you to all our team coaches who did a great job teaching, encouraging, challenging and caring for all players across the three days of competition.

Division 1 Results Summary:

  • Year 3/4 Girls South Plympton and Brooklyn Park teams played numerous matches against various schools and received their personal participation certificates from SACSA.
  • Year 5/6 Girls South Plympton team finished 5th overall
  • Year 5/6 Girls Brooklyn Park team finished 10th overall
  • Year 7/8 Girls Gold team, finished as Champions 🥇

Winter Sport

Our Junior School Soccer and Netball seasons have now concluded for the 2022 Winter Season.

These weekly teams have played in the rain, hail and sunshine; on hard, slippery fields and courts. The soccer team has sometimes played in fields similar to mud-pits where the ball has become stuck in the mud. They have experienced wins, losses and draws, and even played against children as tall as adults, but they have not been afraid to try their best.

Throughout the Winter Season, there have been many memorable moments for individuals and teams. What has been most pleasing to witness, is the support and encouragement of students at training and matches. Being a part of weekly sport is not only about having fun, it is also an opportunity to build knowledge of the sport, further abilities, develop resilience and perseverance, and display exemplary sportsmanship before, during and after games.

Season sport is not about premiership points or titles. Students play to develop a passion in the sport and a desire to remain physically active. Being physically active continues to be a highly recommended practice for maintaining a healthy state-of-mind, yet sadly it is often the first thing people drop from their schedule to prioritise other commitments.

We would like to thank all the team managers, coaches, student umpires and parents who have assisted throughout the seasons and encouraged our students to be active!

We look forward to the summer sport season and hope your child is involved. The summer sports on offer has been communicated with parents, however if you'd like to know more please contact us at sport@emmauscc.sa.edu.au or call 8292 3888.

Kind regards
