Year 9 Rite Journey

In 18 days time, the Year 9s will embark on their Middle School Camping Adventure.

The Rite Journey camp has been strategically planned to be both a celebration and catalyst in the lives of our Year 9s. They are divided up into groups for the week and their main mode of transport is hiking while carrying all their gear in backpacks. Flanked by an Emmaus staff member and Baptist Care Outdoor guide, this group will become their support network as the days go by.

Over the last 3 weeks, the students have been introduced to various skills they will need through the week. Solo preparation allowed them to experiment with different styles of shelters and knots as they prepare to build their own on the last night. Many were introduced to the trangia for the first time as they explored this new way of cooking. In our final week we looked at the different giftings each group member had and how they can contribute to the success of their team.

This style of camp is a first for many of our Year 9s, and we are so proud of how they have embraced every challenge that we have given them. Our heart's desire is that, while on camp, the Year 9s develop a deeper understanding of their identity in Christ and that they encounter His wonder while out in His creation.

We pray that while they walk on this journey, they become aware that Jesus is always with them and that they have never walked alone. We look forward to seeing the growth that Week 10 will bring, and have no doubt that many of the stories will be told time and time again as the years go by. Bring on TRJ Camp 2022!!!
