Principal's Report

From Christian's desk....

Congratulations Noreen

On Monday Noreen McMenaman and I attended the School Sport Victoria Awards Ceremony and Annual General Meeting, where Noreen was awarded ‘SSV Team Vic Team Manager of the Year’.  Noreen has been involved with the Victorian Track and Field school representative team for over 20 years. This year she was acknowledged as the best team manager as a result of her inclusion of students with a disability in these teams. Noreen’s work in the space has opened a pathway for many students to succeed in an area that was not previously accessible.

I commend Noreen for her work with School Sport Victoria and Croydon Hills Primary School. Her sustained efforts have led to a lifelong love of sport for so many children.

Our resident Y6 cartoonist, Cam was also very pleased, as you can see in his drawing at the top of the page.

The gift of giving

Our school is full of wonderful people. Each year one of our families creates and donates the most sensational gingerbread house to the school, to re-gift to a deserving family. This gesture is a wonderful reminder that this time of year is about people, community and caring for others.

'Tis the season of thanks!

Over the course of the week it has been our turn to say thank you. On Monday evening the CHAPS community members that have gone above and beyond enjoyed a thank you dinner at Piyada Thai. Yesterday our staff spoilt families at the Parent Helper Morning Tea and last night MOTHS enjoyed a thank you dinner at their end of year meeting.

As I shared with families at the Parent Helper Morning Tea, volunteer contributions are what make our school great.  Schools are resourced by the DET to run to a level of basic effectiveness, however it is the additions volunteers offer that enhance student experiences. This ranges from one to one reading with students, facilitating community events and fundraising for facilities improvements.

Thank you!

And further thanks goes to....

Teachers and Integration Aides were also spoilt this week when three of our graduating students, Logan & Jaidn SLD and Matty SDB (and their mums) turned on a scrumptious morning tea for the staff who have helped them during their primary school years.  This was conceived, planned and delivered by the boys themselves and is testament not only to their character and developing personalities, but also to the wonderful influence that our staff, particularly the integration staff, can have on the students under their care.

Thank you boys, it was much appreciated by all who attended and we wish you well as you move on in your education journey.

Assemblies

As we rapidly move towards the end of the year we have only two more Assemblies in which to share our community and student achievements.  Parents and friends are warmly invited to join us for our final Celebration Assembly for the year, on Friday December 13th at 2.40pm in the Stadium.

Our very last Assembly occurs on our final day, Friday December 20th, at 12pm prior to a 12.30pm dismissal of students for the summer holidays.

Junior House Sports

On Tuesday our Junior School enjoyed their annual House Sports. Thank you to our PE teachers Laura and Noreen for organising a great event for our community. Refer to the Sports Report in this newsletter for more.
