Wellbeing

Wellbeing Wednesday in Mentor Group had a definite Health focus this term. Students discussed Hydration, Sleep, and the Role of the School Nurse.

Sleep diaries were kept for a week. Students who then continued to keep the diary for another week were entered into a prize draw to win an amazing hamper full of goodies to improve and support their sleep. (Winner detailed below!!)

Staff and students answered questions to see how much they knew about when to visit Sickbay and the School Nurse- Flo Weaver. Apparently, the staff learned a few things!

A fun quiz highlighted the importance of Hydration on Physical Health and encouraged students to consider whether they were drinking enough water.

The main message from these sessions was to increase Student’s understanding of the ways in which our Physical Health and Mental Health are connected and how we can make a few positive changes in our overall feeling of Wellbeing.

**Reminder for Parents, please complete the Medical Review form on Xuno. It is important that the School has current information for your child.

The Winner of the Sleep pack is Year 7 Student Jordan L-D-H2.

Thank you to all the students who put their entries in!

The Wellbeing team has been supporting several students this term through one-to-one counselling both with our MHP and Cairnmillar Provisional Psychologists.

Meaning more of our students have access to support than ever before.

Our ongoing commitment to the development of programs has seen a return of PAWS, with a focus on year 9 Health and Wellbeing. This group is lead by our MHP Mindi Robins and Family Therapist Jim from Headspace with his two dogs Ruby and Ziggy.

We are excited to have the return of the Body Project in term three which produced wonderful results last year through our partnership with Headspace in a cohort of year 10 girls. This program aims to promote body positivity and acceptance of self.

Youth advocates training is a new introduction to Well-being in term 3 which fosters leadership and peer support in young people, a small group of students from years 9-10 will be provided skills to assist their peers and will run programs for younger students.
