Chatham Happenings
An update from the students of Chatham Primary School
House Cross-Country Carnival
Our wonderful House Cross-Country Carnival was held on Thursday 4th May at Canterbury Oval for students in Years 4-6.
Although the weather was a little drizzly and cold early on, it was amazing for running long distances! Students ran either 2 kilometres or 3 kilometres, depending on their age group. Each of the 4 Chatham Houses – Fenton (Red), McEvoy (Yellow), Corbett (Blue) and Nugent (Green) – were booming with team spirit and pride, and all students enjoyed cheering on their peers under their respective flags. 60 excited students finished within the top 10 of their age group, and therefore qualified to compete against other schools in the Kooyong District Cross-Country Carnival, which was held today at Anderson Park in Hawthorn East.
It was wonderful to see everyone’s persistence and determination throughout this event, and we were delighted to be there!

Year 4 Mayoral Visit
The Mayor of Boroondara, Councillor Felicity Sinfield, visited our Year 4 students on Monday 5th May. The Mayor wore her chains of office and spoke about her responsibilities and the responsibilities of Local Government. The students became Councillors and the Mayor chaired a meeting to decide if an imaginary playground would have swings or a slide. The swings won by a handsome majority.
Thank you Madam Mayor for a very informative morning.
