Principal's Message

Dear parents, students and families,

"Walk Safely to School Day" was held last Friday and was a great success according to everyone that has spoken to me about it. It was great that our local Police from Carrum Downs could join us for the morning to share in spreading such an important message. Thank you to Mrs Winduss and her team on their organisation.

On Wednesday our whole school stopped and shared the story "The Speedy Sloth" authored by Rebecca Young and Heath McKenzie as part of National Simultaneous Storytime. Any such event that puts the focus on the joy of reading is something our staff like to be involved with for our students. Thanks to Mrs Brooking and her team for the promotion and organisation of this within our school.

This weekend our students intending to receive their First Eucharist are again invited to attend any of the Parish Masses. Tomorrow we celebrate Pentecost, the 'birth' of our Church, with a whole school Mass which families are warmly invited to.

Our children have been learning more about “being your best self online” as part of National E Smart Week. This week we have also celebrated the Pope's encyclical on 'Laudato Si' which has a big focus on stewardship of the environment,  ideally linked to our 'Creation' unit.

In staffing news, Mrs Tracy Di Paolo is on a period of leave and we welcome back Mrs Claire Burns to work with our students receiving Reading Recovery.

Next week is again very busy. Our year 3-6 students will do their swimming week at PARC, it is National Reconciliation Week and Miss O'Donnell has organised a Sorry Day Liturgy in the hall at 3pm on Tuesday and there will be a preparatory evening for students receiving First Reconciliation in the Church at 6.30pm.

God Bless

Rod Shaw
