Mr. Barclay's Bulletin

A message from the school Principal.

Hello NPS Community

Thank you for taking the time to read this weeks newsletter. As always - it's jam packed with worthwhile information however, you're only needing to read what is pertinent to you. We're trying to make sure that what we include is always relevant and important however we understand that it may not ALL be relevant to you specifically.

I'll start by throwing a shout out to 3 of our amazing parents in Nicola S, Liz M and Carolien S for their hard work in kicking off our Kitchen Garden program last Friday. This work resulted in a great stall being set up outside the canteen and vegetables being sold to our school community!

There is a poster on the 'important information' page highlighting the work being done as well as a link below for parents and families to find out more and who may be willing to assist and share their expertise! That link is HERE.

Next week we have our Maths Open Morning. This will take place on Thursday, 1st June from 9.15am. A compass post detailing the day has been pushed out to families. We will also be hosting a coffee van onsite from 8.40am for this open morning.

A reminder that we will be having a Pupil Free Day on Friday 2nd June. This is a Professional Practice Day for Teaching Staff.

Pokemon Cards. SO MANY Pokémon Cards. Toys. Teddys. Lego. Balls and sports equipment. And more. These items are just a selection of what we have seen students bring in to school each day over the past several weeks.

As fun and exciting as it can be for our students to bring these things in and play with them during break times - we have also seen an increase in disputes, arguments, disagreements, and tears over these items as they are lost, broken, or misplaced. The conflict between friends and groups of students can occur at a rapid rate and it takes staff a considerable amount of time to attempt, as best possible, to resolve these issues.

Please note that as a school we do not condone students bringing these things to school.

Finally, I would like to share with our community an amazing achievement by one of our very own. Last weekend, Mrs. Shannon Washington was successful in obtaining her black belt in Karate (and has the bruises to prove it!). This is a truly outstanding achievement, one that took years of training, sacrifice, skill and pure determination to accomplish. Can I just say on behalf of our school community, well done Shannon!

Regards,

Corrie.
